Yes. Every Laxis app is free to download and comes with a free plan that includes monthly transcription minutes. You can upgrade whenever you need more.
macOS 12 and later, 64-bit Windows 10 and later, iPhone, iPad, and Android, plus a Chrome extension for Google Meet. There is no Linux desktop app — on Linux, use the Laxis web app in your browser.
They record and transcribe identically. The .dmg build also includes the global voice keyboard, which needs the macOS Accessibility permissions that Apple does not allow in App Store apps, so that feature is missing from the Mac App Store build. On Windows, both builds include the voice keyboard.
Every store release waits on Apple's or Microsoft's review before it goes live, while the direct installer ships the moment we publish it. The version numbers on this page are read live from our release manifests, so you can always see which build is ahead.
No. The desktop apps record audio on your own device, so no extra participant appears in your Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, or Webex call, and nobody has to admit a bot from the waiting room.
Transcription runs in our cloud rather than on your machine — the app captures audio and streams it up, so there is no local speech model taking over your CPU or filling your disk. It does need an internet connection to transcribe.
